I agree with Matt Gagnon that
associate programs are not a way to make millions of dollars.
There is an exception to this. If
you are the person who invents an information product that is
appropriate for an 'affiliate' program, it is possible to
earn a million dollars. At least it was in the Internet's early
days. It is very difficult to achieve this today, but it can be
done.
An affiliate program is when
someone invents or creates a product, e-book, or a service. Instead
of paying for all the marketing themselves, they create a web-page
and an affiliate link that will allow anyone else to promote and
sell their product. This is extremely powerful when you meet
affiliates who have an excellent understanding of internet
marketing, because they will market your product for you. If they
have a giant list of contacts and customers, they can earn you
thousands of dollars in product sales and ask only a small cut of
the profits.
The problem with affiliate
programs in my opinion, is the saturation aspect. When everybody
starts selling the same stuff, that stuff turns into crap pretty
fast. This is called Market saturation. Eventually this stuff turns
into 'free software' and a 'free report' or e-book. it can no longer
be used to generate level three leads.

best thing going for people who do not have their own product . . .
