This is a review about myself.
It is not completely objective, of course. I have included my
marketing career at the bottom of this review but will begin with my internet
marketing philosophy:
Internet version 2.0 is
already here:
I believe it is the dawn of
'Internet version 2.0' which will profoundly effect the way we do business on
the Internet. Many of my mentors are already earning a
living on the second version of the Internet. They have installed
Internet version 2.0 either knowingly or
unknowingly. Let me explain:
One of the founding fathers of
virtual reality, Jaron Lanier, served as the lead scientist for the
National Tele-immersion Initiative, a coalition of research
universities studying advanced applications for Internet version
2.0.
The Internet 2.0 is being
developed partly based on the recognition of how long-term human
relationships require eye-to-eye contact. For example, the current
internet, Internet 1.0 still has no way to provide eye to eye
web-cam technology. Communication is still shady.
This eye-to-eye contact is
essential in business. The current web cameras sit on top of your
computer but do not really give you a sense of relationship with
your customer or your business partner. These web-cams have been effective
forms of cheap voyeurism but ineffective forms of long-term relationship
building. It
has been shown that very high dollar business transactions cannot really be
completed trustfully using Internet version 1.0. At least not
as trustfully as an in-person business meeting.
We need to install
the upgrade! The Internet 2.0 will provide a visual range that is
direct. For example, you will be staring into a mirror-style monitor, but you will actually be speaking eye-to-eye with a
business contact in London. It is almost as if he is sitting right
across the table from you! The video screens will be much larger
and taller, and corporate business meetings can take place without
air travel.
My point here is to show you that
once again, millions of dollars have been spent in order to prove
the obvious: High dollar business transactions do not take place on
the internet because relationships of trust require that you have
eye-to-eye contact. So, with this in mind, here are some simple tips
about how the current internet, (Internet version 1.0), may be used
to create wealth.
My background is in television. I
worked for a company called TV Media Creative as an editor and
copy-writer. We produced late night 'gotta have-it' infomercials. We
marketed doo-dads and gizmos, like those knives that cut through
shoes. For example, mine was the original 30 minute infomercial for
the company called Oxy-Clean and Orange-Glo. Oxy-clean is a really
good product and cleans anything. However, you can now buy it at
Walmart. I saw my own infomercial running on the 'Sci-Fi' channel
towards the end of 2003. I burst out laughing when I saw that.
I will tell you which part of my
personality is under construction:
I am working on writing more
simply, I want to use fewer words. I have a lot of abstract ideas
that don't always translate well into ordinary language. This skill
is essential in marketing.
In person, however, I am an
excellent salesman! So my mentors have encouraged me to practice my
writing skills. I am also practicing my ad-copy and my referral
marketing skills.
My mentors include Matt Gagnon,

work in order to learn, and I plan to keep on learning.
